Job Description

Are you looking to develop a career in within one of the world’s largest Research OrganisationsOur clients Northern Ireland team sits within their Public Affairs policy offering. It is one of the most innovative and fast-moving professional services operations within Northern Ireland. They respond to the needs of government, helping to design, deliverand evaluate policies in areas, such as Energy, Education, Early Years and Housing.They work with prestigious clients such as Dept. for Energy Security and Net Zero, DHLUC, DE (NI), DoH (NI) and other NI public and voluntary sector organisations.They are looking for an Evaluation Consultant to join them to support the continued growth of the team and the delivery of their evaluation work in these key areas.The role…As an Evaluation Consultant in their Northern Ireland team you will be supporting a wide range of evaluations. This will include the development of theoretical frameworks, such as theories of change, the setting up and application of analytical models and theanalysis of quantitative and qualitative data.You will be given the opportunity to manage small projects and to contribute to larger UK wide evaluations. These projects are likely to cover policy areas including the energy and the environment, homelessness, local development and Levelling Up. This rolewill be largely NI based but may involve some work on programmes that support other UK regions.Working across the social policy space, you will be uniquely positioned to evaluate interventions at the intersection of society’s most pressing problems, relating to e.g. health and social care in Northern Ireland, education and the NI economy. You willbe working with an established team of policy specialists, economists, evaluators and researchers to advance the use of key methodologies and innovative techniques.As part of the Northern Ireland team and wider Public Affairs service, you will be able to contribute to their wider knowledge sharing, impact and social value activities.What will I be doing

  • Gathering, exploring and analysing primary and secondary quantitative, qualitative and economic evaluation data.
  • Conducting desk research that would include literature and evidence reviews that specifically relate to their client’s evaluation questions.
  • Developing client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered to budget and timescale
  • Drafting accessible and concise evaluation reports
  • Presentation of results to clients and stakeholders
  • Developing research tools (e.g. questionnaires, discussion guides)
  • Contributing to evaluation proposals as part of a wider team.
What do I need to bring with me
  • Solid demonstrable experience of delivering research & evaluation in a commercial environment
  • Proven ability to work well in teams and manage projects to timescale and budgets with limited supervision
  • Expertise in quantitative (and ideally also qualitative approaches) for evaluation problems
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving approaches to the design/delivery of complex evaluations
  • Experience of using at least one type of statistical software package e.g. Excel and SPSS
  • Curiosity and drive to support a business to move into new areas and experience of contributing to winning evaluation proposals
  • Time management skills and ability to work across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills including a wish and proven ability to work as a team and pitch in’ to support colleagues
  • A desire for self-improvement and learning more about evaluation, statistics and policy
  • Demonstrable entrepreneurial spirit, e.g. enthusiasm and passion for research and delivering high quality work
