We pride ourselves on being able to offer our customers the complete in-house solution - from design to delivery.The Role - Mechanical Design Engineer:The PCE GROUP are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing and ambitious team in Beccles Suffolk.The post holder shall design innovative and progressive automation machinery, as part of a dynamic and growing design team. Working alongside engineers and other industry professionals, to conceptualise, develop and enhance these solutions, whilst alsocontributing to the evolution of our processes.ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design Engineer:The following list is an indication of the responsibilities of the role, which the post holder will be expected to undertake. The list is not exhaustive and is intended as guidance only.
  • Working and collaborating within a multi-discipline team to produce innovative design solutions for a wide variety of industries, from packaging to ocular and medical.
  • Playing a key role in concept development and evolving those ideas into detailed designs using 3D CAD.
  • Applying your technical knowledge to work with challenging mechanical requirements.
  • Producing detailed machine and factory layouts using 2D CAD.
  • Producing comprehensive bill of materials and parts lists, for all mechanical aspects of a project.
  • Engaging in regular meetings with the Project Team, Suppliers and Clients, to understand and execute the mechanical requirements of automation projects.
  • Remain compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations and company procedures.
  • Provide support to the Sales team, by preparing technical information for quotations, generate design costings and assist in costing for production work.
  • Provide technical support during the build, testing and commissioning project phases.
  • Managing your time, in order to deliver design in line with the project schedules.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset in all aspects of your work
RequirementsMechanical Design Engineer:The following list is an indication of the skills that the successful candidate will possess, in fulfilment of the position.
  • Mechanical design/engineering experience within the automation industry.
  • A minimum of an HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD (Ideally Solidworks) with experience designing for manufacture.
  • Previous experience using Solidworks PDM or similar would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques.
  • Detail-oriented, methodical and accurate, with excellent levels of concentration.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to balance priorities of multiple projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Have a passion for engineering, with a drive to innovate and contribute to positioning PCE as a market leading partner in automation.
