Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client, the powerhouse behind Persil, Comfort, Surf and Ben & Jerrys, are currently seeking a Process Scientist, based at their Port Sunlight research site. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, 37.5-hour week, paying between £25,536 to £30,822 per annum depending on experience.Unfortunately, we cannot consider candidates who have a notice period longer than 1 month to serve.Job description

  • This role is for a Process Scientist as part of the Product Engineering team and will work specifically on Oral Care projects.
  • The role will involve providing process support for the Oral Care innovation programme, specifically:
  • Manufacture and filling of product prototypes across scale in both laboratory and pilot plant locations.
  • Recording of observations and process data on digitised platforms
  • Quality control and advanced characterisation measurements of prototypes
  • Analysis of process and product quality data including formal reporting of results & conclusions to line & programme leadership
  • Report results and make recommendations both in written and verbal form to key stakeholders.
  • Work within a multi-discipline project team to determine experimental work plans, conduct process studies across scale, analyse and report results.
  • Work in both the laboratories and pilot plant at Port Sunlight site and will work under a quality management system.
  • Competencies
  • MSc/MEng in Chemical / Process Engineering/Chemical Engineering or Physical Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Experience of applying processing equipment principles and practices to develop and scale-up new products.
  • Good computing and data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of Chemical & Process Safety
  • Team working: ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to deliver new product innovations.
  • Demonstrate scientific integrity, following quality and safe working practices.
  • Preferred but not essential:
  • Industrial research experience in the processing of complex liquid/soft solid products at laboratory and pilot plant scale.
  • Experience with laboratory analysis techniques e.g. pH, rheology and optical microscopy.
  • Training will be provided but prior experience of laboratory and pilot plant environments and working under a Quality system is preferred.
