Job Description

Staff Nurse 2020 is the Year of the Nurse- so why not make your year by joining us at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, Intensive Care Unit and apply for a Band 5 Staff Nurse role where a fantastic journey and exciting opportunities await you.We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses to provide clinical nursing care within our Intensive Care Unit. If you have a caring and compassionate approach with your patients, and want to join a motivated, friendly and supportive team, we are keen to hear from you.Who are weThe Intensive Care Unit in Bath has one team providing a great service across two units. These units are dedicated in providing care for seriously ill patients from across a range of medical and surgical specialties. Having two Intensive Care Units means we can separate the care we offer to our patients. Recently we opened the new unit for COVID-19 patients which is one of the most sophisticated units in the region. The 14 beds in Pierce Intensive Care Unit is contained in a negative pressure environment, having sealed areas with carefully controlled ventilation that prevents contaminated air from escaping the room which maximises safety for staff and patients.We are privileged to have two units enabling us to separate the care we can offer to our patients.Why work with usWe recognise that our staff are our most precious resource and we are committed to reaching your potential by offering a structured development and education pathway. We have an experienced and well-resourced education team and your development and learning will be supported by our dedicated Senior Nursing leadership team.We welcome newly qualified nurses who previously have had an acute nursing placement or Intensive Care.Our Band 5 pathway includes:

  • A 6 week supernumerary period (including induction)
  • Progression through the nationally recognised ‘Critical Care Steps’ Competency Framework
  • A comprehensive education package including the Foundations in Critical Care Course.

  • Opportunities for further Critical Care academic courses and further development at UWE

  • Your future CareerChoosing a career in Critical Care nursing will open many doors for you. We will invest in your future development and this could lead you into exciting roles within Critical Care such as a Sister/ Charge Nurse, Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, Matron, Education Practice Facilitator or Advanced Critical Care Practioner.
