Job Description

My client are looking for a Mechanical Design or BIM Engineer to join them on a permanent staff basis, based in the South West of the UK. The position will be working within the water utilities sector based from offices in Bath with flexible/hybridworking supported for the successful candidate.Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking to fill a full-time position for our Digital Engineering department. The successful candidate will be implementing BIM technology to assist in the construction design process. This position will give you the chance to play a keyrole in expanding and developing our BIM capability in a fast-paced, innovative environment.The role would suit an experienced engineer with a degree in civil, structural or mechanical engineering, who has, technical problem-solving abilities, leadership skills. Qualifications or experience in delivering models, drawings and designs in a BIM environmentwould also be advantageous.Job ResponsibilitiesSpecific Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of digital models and drawings on water and wastewater treatment sites.
  • Advanced use of Revit and AutoCAD to create, audit and review designs and third-party information.
  • Managing Point Cloud and other survey information from third party surveyors
  • Liaising with designers, consultants and suppliers to enable project coordination.
  • Providing input for key design and deliverables.
  • Input into model and drawing procedures
  • Manage / Update BIM Project Documents
  • 3D Model Quantity Extraction / Verification
Role RequirementsAs a BIM Engineer you will need to be highly organized, detail-oriented, hardworking and have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The Successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonalskills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.Specific requirements include:
  • Degree/HND in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • Experience delivering projects in a BIM environment.
  • Experience delivering projects using Autodesk products such as Revit, AutoCAD Navisworks and ReCap or similar Bentley products.
  • Experience working in a common data environment and managing BIM data throughout a project lifecycle.
  • Understanding key principles on information management as per BS EN ISO 19650
  • Experience adopting to design changes and new technologies.
  • Experience conducting design review and co-ordination meetings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including CDM & design risks and the ability to translate to CAD.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidiscipline and diverse team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Plant 3D experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
