Job Description

What is The Willats Trust The Willats Trust has been working for over 160 years to enable Christian workers to share the good news about Jesus with some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in the UK.William Willats set up Mr Willats Charity in 1858 to fund this work, ensuring everyone could hear about Jesus, regardless of their income or status.Now in the 21st century, we are still seeking to assist churches and charities in sharing the good news about Jesus all across the UK with the poorest in society, who are often marginalised and excluded. We do this by supporting Christian workers who shareour vision. The Charity awards grants to churches and Christian charities operating in England, Wales and Ireland to support lay-workers whose work fulfills the aims of the founder to bring the Gospel to the disadvantaged. About the Role The Accountant/Bookkeeper position is an important role that contributes to the work of The Willats Trust. The position can be worked predominantly from home with travel to Bath for quarterly board meetings. You will be in regular contact with the Grantsand Office Administrator, Property Manager and the CEO to ensure the smooth running of the Charity. The role requires a competent accountant who has a vision for what God can do within the work that The Willats Trust supports. The Accountant/Bookkeeper positionwould suit someone working as a consultant or someone with other part-time commitments.The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Producing quarterly management accounts.
  • Producing annual accounts.
  • Preparing papers for audit. Audits are carried out remotely.
  • Producing quarterly cashflow projections.
  • Preparing the annual budget.
  • Liaising on budgets with other members of the team.
  • Supporting the team in conversations surrounding the best use of the available resources.
  • Running payroll and any medical payments.
  • Providing the second signature on all payments.
Hours: 15/20 hours per month (Hours can be predominantly flexible)Salary: TBA/hourly rateLocation: Home-Working or based at The Willats Trust Offices which are inRivers Street, BathThere is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the postholder should be a practicing Christian with a commitment to the mission and ministry of The Willats Trust under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.Due to the urgent nature of this hiring process, interviews may be scheduled before the closing date.
