Job Description

Are you a Health and Safety Manager looking for a role where you can have a real impactWe are delighted to be working with a progressive main contractor, with expert capabilities delivering essential refurbishments to the affordable housing network across Scotland.The next 10 years will be revolutionary for the affordable housing sector as it evolves to focus on energy efficiency, in this role, you will have the opportunity to be right at the forefront of a rapidly growing department ready to meet the demands of changehead on. Diversity of skills, experience, and a willingness to embrace new challenges are exactly the kind of qualities that are crucial to delivering success in this role through this exciting period of growth.Ideally you will have worked in construction in a similar role and keen to bring your experience to improve and develop key H&S delivery benchmarks across the business. It is crucial that their Quality as Standard ethos is reflected consistently acrossall of their projects.To be shortlisted, the track record of experience we are looking for includes:

  • Ability and knowledge to carry out site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance and company standards are adhered to.Provide competent advice on current legislation, policy and procedures to key stakeholders within the business.
  • Advise and coach managers across the business and promote a Health and Safety culture ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Develop Construction Phase Plans, Risk and Method Statements as necessary and in line with legislation for site operations.
  • Prepare and communicate health and safety reports to key stakeholders.
  • Attend internal and client meetings advising on health and safety matters.
  • Investigate and report on incidents whilst identifying the root cause analysis and course correction where necessary.
  • Assess existing systems of work to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Advise, develop and deliver health and safety training as required.
  • Conduct site inductions and regular toolbox talks.
  • Review and update health and safety policies regularly in line with business standards.
  • Support in the management of and audit of external accreditations, CHAS, Constructionline.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • NEBOSH Construction/General certificate as a minimum.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001,14001 and 45001 Standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of CDM and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Professional body membership -GradIOSH/CMIOSH or equivalent.
  • Construction background is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of engaging with clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills.
