Job Description

Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager - Firm of Accountants, BarnsleyThe RoleBarber McLelland are working in partnership with a leading independent firm of chartered accountants who are recruiting for an experienced practice accountant for the position of Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager for the firms Barnsley office.The firm has developed an excellent reputation across the South Yorkshire region, supporting a highly varied client base, providing these businesses with a full range of accounting, business advisory and taxation services.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupporting the Barnsley office Partner, the role of Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for a varied client portfolio of small to medium-sized owner-managed businesses
  • Preparation of Statutory and Management Accounts
  • Preparation of Management Information
  • Training and advice on accounting software
  • Provide commercial business support
  • Act as senior in charge, in the absence of the partner
  • Staff management including training and review of work/files
Skills and QualitiesThe successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience who is currently working for a firm of accountants with a minimum of 6 years experience. Individuals must have developed a broad range of experience within statutory and managementaccounting along with experience of dealing with clients directly, the experience of staff supervision would also be advantageous.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is looking to work within a forward-thinking, dynamic practice in the growth phase of their Barnsley operation.The business in return will offer an excellent opportunity to broaden experience and skillset and will provide scope for further career progression.SalaryThe business will award the successful individual a highly competitive remuneration package, this will include:
