Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Job Type: Supply/Temporary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a supply basis. This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and who is looking for a flexible working arrangementin the Barnsley area.Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide one-to-one support and group support to children with a range of SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to plan and implement effective strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment to support inclusive learning.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations with the teacher and SENCO to adapt learning plans as needed.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction, helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Support the physical and emotional well-being of students, providing assistance with mobility and personal care as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN students.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualifications are highly desirable.
