Job Description

Mechanical maintenance engineerFood waste recyclingBarking4 on 4 off days and nightsUp to £49,000 per annumGi Pro are proud to be working in partnership with one of the UKs leading processors offood waste recycling, they are at the forefront of their field and offer environmentally.safe renewable products. The company in question are looking for a MechanicalMaintenance Engineer at their site in Barking.Job Role:To maintain, by servicing and repair, all machinery to maintain production and meet all.health and safety requirements. Proactively drive improvement and cost savings ofenergy and utilities whilst maintaining the ability to meet varying and increasing.demands from production.Typical Duties will involve:

  • Risk assessing all jobs before work begins.
  • Undertaking planned preventative maintenance and lubrication schedule on plant assets such as: pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves
  • Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and to Schedule planned service maintenance. Request & check RAMS, induct personnel, Provide permits to work and oversee contractor works onsite to ensure work is carried out safely
  • Completion of reactive tasks as per defect list.
  • Assisting with contractor and third-party asset services and general housekeeping.
  • Complete all logs and job sheets as required.
  • Actively participate in projects, continuous improvement, and modern manufacturing principals.
  • Be expected to adhere to all Site Health and Safety Regulations and required to attend Health and Safety, Fire and Welfare Training both on and off site.
  • To install and maintain equipment ensuring minimum interruptions to production.
  • To assist in any other duties and ad hoc projects as and when required.
Desirable experience
  • Hold a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Hold a minimum CGLI or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Engineering experience (this would be advantageous if this was in the waste industry).
  • Experienced in working with and applying isolations and isolation systems LOTO (Mechanical and Electrical).
  • Dual Skilled mechanical/Electrical is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge if various mechanical drive arrangements, including simplex, duplex, chain, belt, gearboxes, and transmission equipment is required.
  • Able to replace shafts seals and bearings, pipework, fittings, and couplings.
  • Confident with valve replacements and basic pneumatics.
  • Must be used to working at height.
  • Basic IT Skills.
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Have an analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Be able to communicate well and professionally at all levels.
  • Be able to work on your own or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Problem solving and fault diagnosis techniques.
