Job Description

Our industry leading client in Bargoed, are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance division on a 12 month contract basis.This is a key position, and you will assist the Senior Accountant in the preparation of the management accounts, supporting financial reports and periodic budgeting and forecasting within the specified deadlines.You will also take responsibility for the line management, personal and technical development of the purchase ledger team, deputising in the absence of the Financial Controller and Senior Accountant.We are seeking an experienced candidate, to undertake all accounting tasks accurately and effectively whilst maintaining excellent internal and external relationships.Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and review the responsibilities of the purchase ledger team to ensure accurate reconciliation, reporting and audit of Trade creditors to include management of GRNI accruals, debit balances, statement reconciliations.
  • Ensuring effective relationships are maintained with suppliers whilst managing trade creditors within workings capital targets.
  • Reconciliation, reporting and audit of stock, stock adjustments and relevant provisions, working alongside the commercial team in the identification of key risk areas.
  • Responsibility for the accurate reporting, payment, and audit of company VAT and Instrastat responsibilities bringing to the attention of the Financial Controller any instances of non-compliance.
  • Monthly reconciliation, recording and settlement of Supplier Rebates.
  • Gross profit allocation and reconciliation of supplier contributions and other product specific rebates.
  • Dealing with finance queries of senior stakeholders.
  • Work alongside the Senior Accountant on the preparation and review of the monthly management accounts.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • Financial technical expertise preferably ACCA/ CIMA part qualified (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Solid business partnering experience with proven communication, presentation and influencing skills with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexibly, pro-actively and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy on Microsoft packages to include intermediate excel skills (pivots, lookups etc.).
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Dynamics (Nav), SAP or a similar ERP system.
