Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Childrens Development Worker in Birmingham. This will be working with a Domestic Abuse Charity, who specialise in supporting women from Southern Asian backgrounds.Job Title: Childrens Development Worker - Domestic AbuseLocation: BirminghamSalary: £24,000 per annumIndustry: Domestic AbuseRole Purpose: Designing and delivering creative activities that make a difference to the lives of children and young people through age specific support, play and educational activities.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver an age-appropriate weekly programme of both structured and free play activities with the aim to promoting more appropriate behaviour, enhanced interpersonal skills and improved emotional wellbeing.
  • Identify support needs of every child and young person and work with support workers, voluntary and statutory providers to ensure needs are met.
  • Engage and build a rapport with the children, including them in activities that allow them to enjoy and create new experiences.
  • Review and maintain contract monitoring systems to ensure that the agreed outcomes are achieved.
  • To produce monthly/quarterly reports and monitoring information on the progress of contract outcomes achieved.
  • Create opportunities for children and young people to participate in shaping and improving the service.
  • Carry out annual reviews of the service and evaluate activity sessions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with external agencies to support the needs of children and young people
Required Experience:
  • Able to speak a Southern Asian language.
  • Experience of working with women and children fleeing domestic violence.
  • Experience of working with children and young people aged 0-18 years old.
