Job Description

Location: Cambridge, or you can work from home, visiting the Cambridge office every week or 2Salary: Circa £40-50,000The Company: This is a leading cancer screening and diagnostics organisation which carries out industry leading in depth diagnosis for a variety of different types of cancer.Well-funded, respected throughout the industry and with a wealth of experience within the cancer flighting community, the future for this life-saving organisation is very bright.The Job: This is a varied and dynamic role. You are being brought in on a permanent basis, not to follow, but to use your expertise and experience to foster change and new ways of working. The company is in an excellent place and has achieved a lot, but my its own admission, the finance department is in need of modernisation.You will have overall responsibility for all financial and accounting activities to manage and improve the companys financial performance and direct accounting operations.This role will fulfil the management of accounting records, publishing financial management reports, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue and coordinating with external accountants. Providing line management to colleagues in the finance team.Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and implement systems and procedures of finance department in conjunction with Chief Financial Officer
  • Oversee production of all company accounts.
  • Oversee and prepare monthly management reports to the highest level of accuracy, verification and functionality.
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results and trends.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports, monitoring internal controls and managing financial transactions.
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Managing the internal annual budgeting processes, drawing in participation from the various stakeholders.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Report to the Chief Financial Officer with timely and accurate financial information.
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Management of external administration (including, but not limited to bank, insurance, utilities, compliance, tax, grants).
  • Manage finance team colleagues.
    • Required Skills/Experience:
  • You will be a Financial Controller, either in industry or in practice looking to make the jump to industry.
  • You’ll be a fully qualified accountant.
  • You will have proven experience in finance management as well as supervisory or line management experience
