Job Description

JC42 – Workshop EngineerLocation – AvonmouthSalary – Up to £16.50 an hour DOEOverview:First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Workshop Engineer in Avonmouth.The Workshop Engineer will be responsible for the servicing and repair of our clients environmental municipal civil Limited’s (DGEMC) hire fleet equipment.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fault diagnosis, repair and routine maintenance of sweepers and other Company equipment with minimal supervision, in a safe and economic manner, employing such skills and knowledge as are required at minimum cost to the Company.
  • Ensuring that all routine maintenance or repair work is the subject of an accurate and timely written report including details of parts used and time taken on a work record card.
  • Carrying out vehicle inspections and MOT checks, delivering vehicles to MOT test stations.
  • Ensuring that all tools and equipment used in the course of any such routine maintenance or repair work are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • Ensuring that all work engineering areas at Brighouse are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times.
  • Ensuring that safe working practices are observed at all times, in accordance with Company policy, legislation and as instructed by the Operations Manager.
  • Reporting defective tools or workshop equipment to the Workshop Manager immediately.
  • Examining sweepers and other Company equipment and report verbally or in writing regarding their condition.
  • The security of assets under their control.
  • Assisting the rental operations department, ensuring weekly stock checks of all hire fleet assets not on rent, as required.
Skills and Experience:
  • Mechanical engineering qualification. (Desirable, not Essential).
  • HGV experience or knowledge. (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics Systems. (Desirable).
  • Previous experience in asimilar role. (Essential).
  • Applicants from ex-military are encouraged.
