Job Description

Payroll AdministratorAvonmouth£24-25k p.aOur client, a multi award-winning manufacturing firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join their Avonmouth based team!The role:

  • You will be responsible for administering end to end monthly payroll for around 400 staff, across 2 sites, one in Bristol and one in Aylesbury, with the support of the Finance Manager.
  • Add all new starters to Sage 50 Payroll and assist HR in ensuring accurate new starter information is added to Act in Time.
  • Record sickness in Sage 50 Payroll and apply correct SSP rules.
  • Record attachments of earnings in Sage 50 Payroll and pass on payments list to purchase ledger monthly.
  • Run monthly reports for the Finance team and other department managers and directors.
  • Prepare payroll payment file for upload to company bank and authorisation by FM & FD.
  • Monthly holiday pay accruals.
  • Issue P45s & P60s.
  • RTI submissions to HMRC.
  • Administration of the company pension scheme, including uploading new starters and contributions to the business pension provider (B&CE The Peoples Pension).
  • Resolve any employee queries once payslips have been uploaded to the online portal.
  • Assist the FM on a project to improve company time & attendance system (Act in Time) to help streamline business processes.
  • Other ad-hoc finance duties and liaising with HR on payroll matters.
Key skills/experience:
  • Have at least 6-12 months experience working in administration (HR or Finance).
  • Intermediate computer literacy to learn new systems.
  • Interest in working towards or having a payroll qualification would be advantageous.
  • Be highly organised with the ability to cope with a range of competing responsibilities and tasks whilst remaining in control.
  • Be able to work to deadlines and prioritise.
  • Have excellent communication skills and willingness to interact with all levels of staff within the business
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude.
