Hands-On Workshop Manager - Cabinet / Furniture MakerSalary:£35,000 - £40,000Location:Ashton-Under-LyneHunter Masons client is looking for an experienced hands on workshop manager to run a timber and steel manufacturing workshop creating set pieces for theatre and TV. The successful candidate would be responsible for supervising between 5-10 workers includingagency workers. This is a high-pressure environment with strict deadlines and as such evening and weekend work may be required with overtime charged at a flat rate or time in lieu. The ideal candidate would ideally come from a carpentry / joinery workshopbackground and has managerial experience.A background in cabinet or furniture making would be beneficial.Responsibilities:· Deliver a well-rounded joinery knowledge to assist with queries from all departments.· Showcase methods and experience in man management.· Meet with the Production Manager and Production Scheduler to provide daily updates.· Be able to effectively monitor all progress in each department against the master programme.· Contribute to construction and quality control.· Manage the workload and all operatives in order that delivery dates are achieved.· Be able to prepare cutting list items of joinery if required.· Maintain and develop good housekeeping within the workshop area.· Ensure all relevant health and safety protocols are adhered to.Essential attributes:· Good numeracy and literacy skills.· Good problem solving and organisational skills.· The ability to meet strict deadlines.· Possess strong communication skills to an exceptional standard.· Technical knowledge of joinery or steel manufacturing.· Motivational leader.
