Job Description

Smart Talent Solutions are recruiting a Financial Accountant for a leading UK business based in Ashton-under-lyne, Greater Manchester.In this role as Financial Accountant, you will report into the Head of FP&A and will be responsible for Leading all month end reporting, reconciliations and analysis ensuring general ledger control and delivery of requirements for Group and Statutory bodies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts and value-added reporting, including detailed variance analysis of Monthly results to Forecast, Budget, and Prior year with full Commentary on variances, providing complete insight into drivingfactors.
  • Calculation and journal posting of accruals, prepayments, and allocations.
  • Cash flow preparation and forecasting.
  • Reviewing and posting the monthly payroll journal and analysing versus budget.
  • Completion of the quarterly VAT return.
  • Ensuring the entire process, accuracy, and completion of balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner, identifying risks and opportunities where possible.
  • Supervising and mentoring the Assistant Accountant.
  • Assisting in the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting annual external audits.
  • Participating in project work as required.
  • Promoting cost awareness and a culture of cost control, ensuring sign-off and authorisation procedures are strictly adhered to.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with PQE
  • 2 Years PQE experience in a similar financial accounting role.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Microsoft Dynamics/365 experience would be highly beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
