Job Description

Teaching assistant - SENDEmpowering Learning are currently looking for a part time SEND Teaching Assistant to work from 9.15am-2.45pm. The role is a long term position starting in ASAP. with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to do the following.

  • Working on a 121 basis with a child with ADHD, PMLD
  • Hours 9.15-2.45pm
  • Offering support and empathy to children requiring assistance
  • Reporting health and safety issues on-site to the maintenance team to resolve
  • Attend to pupils personal needs, including social, emotional, health, and welfare matters.
  • Under the direction of the class teacher and using specialist knowledge or experience, support pupils learning using strategies appropriate to the needs of the pupils and provide modified resources as required e.g. reinforcing the teachers instructions in a visual format; setting up of visual schedules and work systems
  • Work with the Class Teacher and other school staff in providing for the inclusion of all children, to know and apply school policies on Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and learning and Equal opportunities.

  • Make sure that the pupils you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity support the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues when required
  • Ensuring the child is supervised on a constant basis during school hours
  • Help the child to learn and engage during teaching periods
