Job Description

Job Title: Machine Operator / Team LeaderLocation: Outskirts of Ashford, Kent (you will need your own transport)Salary: £33,800 + £3,218.16 (contracted overtime) = £37,018.16Hours: Rotating Shifts Monday to FridayEarly Shift - Monday 5am - 2pm (first 1h paid at x1.5) / Tuesday to Friday 5.30am - 2pm (first 30m paid at x1.5)Late Shift - Monday 1.30pm - 10pm (first 30m paid at x1.5) / Tuesday to Friday 1.30pm - 10pm (first 30m paid at x1.5)Our Client:Our client is a leading distributor of high-quality produce serving a wide range of customers in the food service and retail industries. They are committed to providing customers with the finest frozen fruit and vegetable products while maintaining the higheststandards of quality and food safety.Role Summary:As a Team Leader you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our production lines. You will be responsible for overseeing product quality, production efficiency, and maintaining a safe working environment.Benefits:

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:
  • Support the Shift Manager with the efficient running of the lines.
  • Ensure the production team have weight the correct mixes in the hoppers before starting a production run.
  • Quality checking produce as it is packed, recording findings and ensuring any defect products are removed and flagged immediately.
  • Deep cleaning of production equipment after each run to avoid contamination.
  • Completing paperwork to ensure traceability of all produce.
  • Work closely with other teams and departments to maximise task efficiency.
  • Achieve Line and personal KPIs.
  • Eliminate non-conformances (job right first time).
  • Ensure the safe packing of food to ensure compliance with customer and BRC standards.
  • Ensure technical documents and samples being taken to conform with customer and BRC requirements.
  • Gain good working knowledge of the routine machine operations of the line equipment.
  • Optimise line efficiency whilst maintaining and improving standards.
  • Train, coach and monitor the performance and compliance of production staff.
  • Gain in depth knowledge of the routine machine operations of the line equipment.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained and competent to carry out their role.
  • Assess equipment and performed preventive maintenance where capable to keep machines running smoothly.
  • Monitor machines to detect any malfunction or excessive vibration and adjust machines to eliminate problems.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously to meet production requirements
  • Ensure that team is allocated efficiently.
  • Set up machinery and assemble stations.
  • Work through a daily stringent production schedule to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Liaise with the Shift Supervisor regarding feedback of the teams performance both collectively and individually.
  • Complete reports and projects on time.
  • Reduce line operating costs.
  • Accurate and timely recording of data
  • Health & Safety Champion.
  • Good Manufacturing Practice Champion.
  • Champion continuous improvement in the factory including Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Experience and skills required for this position:
  • You will need your own transport due to location.
  • Analytical and attention to detail skills for the completion of documentation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Have a can do attitude - leads by example and takes a hands on approach.
  • Have good communication at all levels using verbal and written methods.
  • This role will require entering a cold store during the day so you must be comfortable with entering cold temperatures.
  • This role will be on your feet and can be physically demanding so you must be physically fit.
