Job Description

Functional Safety EngineerA Functional Safety Engineer is required to join the electronic / electrical engineering team of a leading vehicle manufacturer. The Functional Safety Engineer will work across technical, policy and training functions leading the delivery of electrical and electronic engineering across the business.In return the Functional Safety Engineer can expect a competitive salary, company pension scheme, medical insurance and dental care schemes, access to the companys healthy living centre and 33 days annual leave.   • Educated to HND / degree level, or equivalent, in Electronics or electrical engineering or similar.
  • Hands on experience of systems engineering and V model completion including requirements capture and generation, validation and verification activities and external certifications.
  • Experience of interpreting industry standards and their application to products.
  • Working knowledge of safety systems modelling
  • You should be experienced in product delivery and support.
  • An understanding of quality systems and processes is required.
  • Our ideal candidate will have an awareness of ISO13849, ISO 15998 and ISO26262.
  • An understanding of IEC 61508 functional safety is highly desirable.
The Role
  • Define safety requirements from internal risk assessments as well as legislative requirements.
  • Work with product teams from concept through to engineering sign off, ensuring the design is capable and achieves safety performance targets.
  • Provide support and guidance were appropriate to product teams on how they may be able to achieve safety requirements.
  • Analyse safety functions though FMEA, SISTEMA modelling, fault tree analysis and other techniques as required.
  • Present analysis to the product team, ensuring the system is modelled accurately and agreed.
  • Create test requirements for specific safety functions
  • Ensure gate functional safety processes are followed and required activities completed ready for compliance team audit
