Job Description

Summary Take a lead role in caring for one of the National Trusts most interesting and varied property portfolios.Were seeking a Facilities & Support Services Manager to join the leadership team at The Childrens Country House. This unique property comprising of Grade 1 listed Sudbury Hall, along with various ancillary buildings and gardens has been undergoing a transformationproject and is due to re-open shortly. What its like to work here Youll lead a motivated and capable team of staff and volunteers to deliver first class facilities, buildings maintenance, compliance, and operational support services. This includes direct supervision of three facilities staff and three Business Servicesstaff, as well as holding various other key relationships.Youll work with a range of different people from property colleagues and National Trust specialists to contractors and tenants. Youll be part of a Regional & National Facilities network and benefit from a programme of training and development workingclosely with our Buildings Surveyors and Risk Business Partners.The Museum of Childhood is a delight for all ages with something for everyone. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Youll act strategically as part of the Senior Leadership team for The Childrens Country House, reporting directly to the General Manager. Alongside leadership of your department, youll input into long term planning for the property and take an activerole in the Duty Leadership rota, including some weekend working.Some days youll be planning maintenance, reacting to issues, or instructing contractors all to keep the operation working smoothly and safely. Other days youll be delivering on projects including several exciting developments for our visitor facilitiesin the near future.To be successful in this role you will need to draw on your leadership, planning and communication skills as much as your practical competence and knowledge. No two days will be the same but you can count on the consistency of a supportive and inclusivework environment.Youll be accountable for the running of all aspects of facilities management, making sure we are safe and compliant. Who were looking for Wed love you to have:

  • A strong understanding of the core principles and functions of facilities management and maintenance;
  • Excellent previous experience of broad compliance and risk management, including knowledge of Health & Safety, Emergency procedures and Fire & Security procedures;
  • Experience of working with contractors and your own facilities team to get the best value for the National Trust;
  • Dynamic, pragmatic, and energetic leadership with a proven track-record of effectively managing people
  • Good communication, service and people skills;
  • Experience of managing budgets and delivering or managing projects;
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office;
  • A desire to make a difference, show initiative and contribute to the core values of the Trust.
