Job Description

Summary Were looking for an Assistant Ranger to join The White Peak Ranger Team.Contract type: 9 month fixed term contractHours: 37.5 hour pw (full time) What its like to work here We are part of the wider NationalTrust Peak District portfolio looking after properties across the WhitePeak Estate in the southern half of the Peak District National Park. Our significantplaces include Dovedale National Nature Reserve, large parts of the Hamps& Manifold valleys and Ilam Park. Much of the landholding is SSSI and SACand includes a wealth of archaeology.We are based at Ilam near Ashbourne. The White Peak Ranger Team consists of six full-time staff and a dedicated group of Volunteers. We are ecologically minded and people-focussed and we are committed to delivering on the NT Land, Outdoors & Nature strategy.What youll be doing Your key role will be to undertakea wide range of practical countryside management work including landscape, access and nature conservation tasks. You will enable a broad range ofvisitors to have outstanding and inspirational experiences through the qualityof our welcome and the effectiveness of our conservation work as well asplaying a supporting role in enhancing visitor enjoyment of all our properties. Youwill provide support to the Ranger Team and work alongside our Volunteers.You’ll make sure that, atevery twist and turn of these fantastic landscapes, we’re delivering outstandingoutdoor experiences and excellent conservation work. You’ll share ourcommon goal with customers and build relationships in the local community, proudlyrepresenting the National Trust.Please also read the full role profile and fact sheet, attached to this advert.   • To be forward thinking as well as reactive. Keen to learn and always willing to pitch in
  • Practical experience in land, conservation and access management
  • Some experience of delivering engagement activities
  • Willingnessto work alongside volunteers
  • Great peopleskills with a commitment to customer service standards
  • Familiarity withmachinery / equipment backed up by appropriate qualifications
  • Fulldriving Licenceis essential
