Role Overview:To provide a comprehensive range of taxation services to the UKBU relevant to a portfolio of upstream E&P assets in the UKCS and in the Atlantic margin West of Shetland.UK Tax CompliancePreparation and submission of twice yearly PRT returns.Preparation and submission of the UKBU Corporation Tax returns.Calculation of UK tax payments and receiptsPreparation and submission of monthly UKBU VAT returns.Preparation and submission of quarterly WHT returnsPreparation and submission of quarterly tied oil returnsPreparation and submission of annual schedule 23 returnAssisting with all HMRC UKBU tax enquiries and correspondence.UK Tax ReportingPreparing monthly tax reporting computations for UKBU management accounts including the calculation and management of tax payments/receipts.Preparing mid-year and full year UKBU tax provisions and disclosures for group accounts and liaising with the group auditors.Preparing UKBU budgetsAssisting in the preparation of deferred tax and long term economic modelsUK Tax AdvisoryProviding VAT advice to the UKBU to ensure VAT is correctly applied and recovered.Assisting Senior UK Tax Advisor and Group Tax Manager with advisory projects with the wider business including the Business Development, Legal and Contracts and Procurement teams. Review and monitor underlying financial and tax systems and processes, identify improvementsMajor ChallengesManaging priorities around monthly, half year and annual tax computations and returns, with strategic UK tax research, modelling and advisory responsibilities.Participating in UK industry taxation lobbying committees.Modelling UKBU deferred tax asset recoverability. UKBU tax modelling for long term asset planning.Providing research and advice for UK business development opportunities and UK corporate tax structures.Financial Accountability and DimensionsPrepare materially correct tax reporting computations and disclosures on time.Prepare materially correct UKBU tax provisions for mid-year and year end group accounts within reporting timetable deadlines.Submit all UKBU tax returns on time and with no audit exceptions (PRT, CT and VAT).Qualifications Professionally qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (or Chartered Accountant) with a big 4 accounting firm with experience in the upstream E&P industry in corporation tax and petroleum revenue tax matters.Candidate Profile Skills / experience:The role requires specialist professional taxation knowledge in UK oil and gas tax regime in particular, ring fence CT and SCT compliance and accounting. Experience and working knowledge of petroleum revenue tax and indirect taxes preferable but not essential.Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations):Working knowledge of OneSource corporation tax and petroleum revenue tax compliance software.Attributes and behaviours:Ability to work independently and in a team environmentAssertive and responsive.Good communication at all levels.Commercial aptitude Required skills
