Job dimensionsProvide tax technical advice to UK E&P business unit, including advice on acquisition/disposal of assets. Responsible for tax accounting and compliance including submission of upstream corporation tax and PRT returns, reviewing and providing input to the taxcalculation in the financial statements. ActivitiesAssist Lead Tax Analyst on the tax implications of a range of issues such as acquisitions and disposals of assets including the review of legal contracts and tax warranties and indemnities where appropriate; ensure that subsequent tax returns reflect position.Provide tax support to Economics team for Long Term Plan and other ad-hoc projects so that tax impact is accurately reflected in modelling.Support Upstream tax accounting process including review of tax charge, recommend updates to tax calculation in management accounts tax models so that tax charge is accurately calculated; prepare consolidated proof of tax; Responsible for corporation tax compliance for main operating entities Preparing PRT returns including submitting six-monthly returns to HMRC; responding to questions from HMRC and reviewing assessments; Prepare Sch 23 returns and submit to HMRC .Any other topics as required by the Lead Tax Analyst or Tax ManagerMaintain awareness of and comply with relevant statutory and company HSE policy; demonstrate personal commitment to the HSE policy; actively participate in Company safety awareness and initiative schemes.Context and environmentnd environmentKey contributor to the tax departments goal of delivering strong tax advisory and compliance services to the E&P branch on a range of tax issues.AccountabilitiesProvide accurate and proactive advice to the E&P branch in a timely mannerPrepare E&P CT and PRT returns so that returns are submitted within deadlines and no penalties are incurred.Qualifications/Experience required/Experience requiredPreferably degree qualified, 2:1 or above.Appropriate post qualification tax experience - preference for relevant professional qualification - CTA, ACA or CA - and upper end of pqe range;Excellent technical knowledge of UK corporation tax and ring fence issues;Experience of negotiation with the tax authorities;Knowledge of tax return software, Onesource or AlphataxSound knowledge of UK company law and international accounting standards.
