  • Crane specialists with expertise in marine, offshore, port, shipyards, construction and industrial sectors
Are you
  • An experienced user in CAD packages, preferably AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor
  • An advanced user with FEM simulation software, preferably FS2000, ANSYS and Inventor
  • Experienced in the application of specific design codes relating to lifting appliances and general structural engineering (e.g. from DNV-GL, Lloyds Register, API, ABS, British Standards, etc)
  • Experienced carrying out site surveys (onshore and offshore locations)
Do you
  • Have a bachelors degree in mechanical, Civil, Design or Structural Engineering.
  • Have 5-10 Years experience in a design engineering environment
  • Have experience in Structural/Mechanical Engineering design and analysis
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry legislation and trade practices including class society
  • Have a well established reputation in the Offshore Industry within the relevant marketplace
The RoleThe Design Engineer will:
  • Be responsible for undertaking design and draughting projects.
  • Manage projects from cradle to grave or collaborate on projects with colleagues, delegate tasks and check for quality and consistency
  • Have meetings with clients, listen to project specifications and suggest approaches which translate into suitable design solutions.
Management and Leadership:
  • Use interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with colleagues, peers, internal and external partners, working proactively across organisational boundaries, sharing information, new knowledge, innovation, and growth ideas
  • Drive and deliver high standards/results. Ability to review priorities and update plans accordingly
  • See the connection between resource needs of different activities / priorities and develops systems to improve synergies
  • Analyses and challenges the use of resources against business objectives
  • Incorporate existing operational management systems from within the group whilst utilizing own experience and skills to develop systems according to local market place requirement.
  • Aligning behaviour with priorities and company business goals to present a consistent positive image.
  • Ensuring process, business units, policies and practices support the overall achievement of ALATAS and the customer proposition.
  • In relation to specific future issues, the Design Engineer should demonstrate ability to act quickly and decisively to prevent actions which may mean a significant decrease in output
  • Understands the medium to long-term implications of potential problems and acts to develop plans to minimise effects
  • Anticipates and prepares for future obstacles that may be less obvious to others
  • Scans the marketplace to identify future changes that may impact on own area and acts creatively to benefit from them
  • Thinks broadly about better aligning action to benefit the customer expectation
HSQE Rresponsibilities:
  • Ensuring team members follow current business policies and procedures:
Design Services, Service, Business Development, HSQE, HR, IT and Finance.
  • Identifying and reporting noncompliance with policies and procedures and assisting in resolving the issues in a timely manner.
  • Participating in improvement programmes and implementing change.
  • Supporting a First Class safety culture and ensuring environmental compliance:
  • Lead by example and communicate to all of their colleagues that safe work and safe operations is an absolute requirement
  • Train and developing the Production team to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Demonstrating a collaborate, supportive and understanding approach in all communications
