Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working withone of the U.Ks leading animal feed manufacturers to assist with their recruitment of a full-timeRetail Purchasing Specialist to join theirRetail department.This is a full-time role UK-based. It canbe at the clientsvarious sites of Birkhill, Inverness, or Turriff, or potentiallyhome based.The successful applicant will assist with the execution of the purchasing departments short and long-term strategy and strategic goals by being aware of these goals and how their role contributes to company success.The RoleYou will support or lead purchasing activities for our 21 retails stores across Scotland encompassing key retail product groups or categories in line with the strategic company objectives and overall purchasing strategy. To assist with the development andimplementation of strategies that deliver measurable benefits whilst driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the supply chain.You will also work with key stakeholders to understand company needs and deliver solutions that meet targets and deliver measurable performance across the organisation.Key Responsibilities

  • Purchasing of agricultural products such as equestrian, workwear, agricultural hardware, and pet products sold within a retail store environment managing spend
  • Establishes product requirements
  • Analyses requirements, manage to spend, and coordinates the delivery schedules
  • Understands and responds to market conditions
  • Evaluate and measure cost trends of spend and raw materials/markets
  • Enhances and monitors supplier relationships
  • Links activities to continuous improvement: now V then
  • Utilise Dynamics 365 system
  • Continuously Improves processes and presents ideas
  • Uses purchasing methodology tools
  • Communicates and rolls out project plans
  • Targets effective spend opportunities
  • Formulates strategy from active processes
  • Manage contracts, trade agreements, use RFIs/RFQs
  • Manages the RFI/RFQ process
  • Establishes fact-based information to assist negotiation
  • Effectively plans negotiation strategy
  • Communicates negotiation outcomes
  • Negotiates and establishes purchase agreements
  • Monitors agreement compliance and supplier performance
  • Manages supplier performance and enhances relationships
  • Drive continuous improvement with suppliers
  • Aims for supplier collaboration and promotes win/win ideas
  • Monitor competition and marketplace
  • Manages contract performance e.g., rebates, spend profile, KPIs
  • Builds communicative relationships internally with stakeholders
  • Drives to understand stakeholder needs and wants
  • Communicates project status with stakeholders
  • Supports and implements the Harbro People Strategy to achieve a high-performing team culture by attending retail, purchasing meetings, and 1:1 meetings with the manager to review performance against goals and set focus areas for the forthcoming month.
  • Follows management guidance to ensure a high level of customer service throughout every aspect of our business by improving customer profitability by providing high-quality guidance, solutions, and advice; instilling team working and high standards towardboth internal and external customers.
  • HSEAdheres to HSE policy, procedures, and guidelines and raises any non-conformance to Management.
  • QualityAdheres to quality policy, procedures and guidelines and raises any non-conformance to management.
  • Supports sustainable business growth in line with the company strategy by working together, being proactive, and embracing change and challenges.
  • Focussing on the customer needs, contributing to customer growth, and achieve individual business objectives.
  • Provides input to the delivery of key KPIs where required.
  • Recognises the required nature and content of internal and external communication to ensure effective communication.
  • Supports the function in the delivery of the financial strategy of the business by adhering to all group-wide financial and business policies and procedures; assisting management in ensuring budget targets are met within the area of responsibility, raisingawareness of any areas which compromise budgetary targets.
  • Supports the concept of continuous improvement within the business.
  • Provides input and support to departmental CI projects where identified as a project participant.
  • Collaborates effectively across sites and functions where required to do so.
  • Recommends improvements or initiatives to reduce unnecessary complexity within business processes.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Understanding of supplier relationship and performance development
  • Working effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High IT literation skills using Microsoft and platform-based purchasing system
  • Ability to self-manage
  • Strong communication skills across all mediums
  • Proven purchasing and supply chain experience
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge and purchasing experience of agricultural products such as equestrian, workwear, agricultural hardware, and pet products sold within a retail store environment
  • Preferably qualified to degree level or comparable working experience within a relevant discipline
  • CIPS qualified (or equivalent supply chain professional qualification) or, comparable work gained experience.
