Job Description

Our Client are a leading Engineering business based in Aberdeen. The company currently require a talented Production Engineer to join the business.Purpose of the Role:

  • Works with the engineering and procurement teams, and external vendors to ensure optimal manufacturability of company equipment designs.
  • Ensures goods manufactured by the company and its suppliers are produced efficiently, and both economically and environmentally where reasonably practicable, and that manufactured product meets salient quality specifications. Guarantees that goods are readyto distribute to customers in a timely fashion. Improves the companys production and distribution processes and ensures the production and distribution of products runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish company manufacturing plans
  • Provides assurance on design manufacturability, and performs a manufacturability checker role on engineering drawings prior to approval and release
  • Co-ordinate R&D / Development projects into production
  • Liaises with projects division to determine requirements
  • Approves materials, costs, manufacturing equipment, and the size of workforce needs to manufacture goods
  • Predict how long a project will take to complete
  • Develop a production schedule detailing all tasks and when they should be completed by to meet predicted completion date
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, the human resources department, and maintenance employees to ensure all resources will be available when required
  • Monitor projects progress to ensure its following the schedule
  • Track material supply flow and production, and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage
  • Support in the organisation project paperwork, including purchase orders, and maintains records
  • Collect and assesses data about the production and teams performance
  • Forecast market challenges based on competitor analysis and industry trends
  • Manage deadlines based on project expectations
  • Prepare reports about production processes for upper management and suggests ways to improve efficiency
Skills Required:
  • Minimum 5 years experience of manufacturing new products and technologies
  • Good working knowledge of typical manufacturing techniques and processes including, but not limited to, fabrication, plating, welding, machining, heat treatment, coatings and assembly
  • Ability to read and understand technical manufacturing drawings including dimensional and geometric tolerancing
  • A general understanding of manufacturing processes using typical engineering materials
  • An understanding of typical componentry of electro-mechanical systems, process equipment and pressure retaining systems

  • Lean manufacturing
  • High level of competency with ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience working to ISO 9001 2015 Standard
  • Knowledge of UK manufacturing vendor network is an advantage
  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Project Management certification such as Association for Project Management (APM), Lean Six Sigma preferred
  • Technical certifications such as an APICS desirable
Salary;
  • Up to £60,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package
