Job Description

Corporate Governance Manager Hourly rate £20.00 - £23.00 Per Hour + Holiday Pay Home Based6 Months +A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen in the South Wales area to work for a highly regarded Public Sector body. This is an exciting opportunity and will offer the successful candidate a chance to manage and oversee the political framework of a publicsector body to a new corporate vehicle. This is a very exciting project to be part of something really big within the South Wales region.The assignment is expected to last approximately 6 months, however for the successful candidate the role could be extended, or a fixed term contract may also be offered. The suitable candidate will possess a strong Governance background, ideally having workedwithin a similar role within a Civil Service setting. The suitable candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results and taking responsibility of the Governance function in order to deliver clear objectives to multiple stakeholders.Working and reporting into The Head of Governance, you will be responsible for the successful implementation of a good governance strategy/framework to ensure the smooth outcomes in accordance with the new corporate vehicle. You will ensure best practiceis adhered too at all times.Key responsibilities will include:

  1. All committee/sub-committee/advisory board terms of reference and operating protocols are up to date and understood by all members
  2. Mechanisms are put in place to check and evidence adherence to committee protocols
  3. Evolve and adapt the current strategic framework, so as the business evolves into a new corporate entity provisions are fit for purpose
  4. Oversee the process of agenda setting, committee paper preparation workflow and distribution to members in accordance with timescales
  5. Review processes and quality of documentation and challenge where appropriate
  6. Ensure timely and accurate minute taking and robust follow through actions
  7. Support the Chairs to ensure meetings run smoothly and all protocols are adhered too
  8. Oversee the internal use of their Inhouse system to ensure it is being used correctly and embedded into the new structure going forward
  9. Production of the annual governance statement and ownership of actions
Person specification:
  1. Diploma in Governance highly desirable
  2. Previous Governance experience within Public Sector setting - essential for this post
  3. Experience of managing complex processes and procedures
  4. Previous knowledge and experience of coordinating effective committee management and support processes
  5. Ability to set priorities, manage workload and that of a wider team in delivering against a challenging timeline
  6. Exposure of working within a multi-partner/political environment
The role would ideally suit a candidate who has previous Governance experience within a public sector background having successfully coordinated and delivered workflows within set timeframes, to various stakeholders and to a high-quality standard.You must possess excellent all-round communication skills, have the ability to work to tight deadlines and have had exposure of working within a similar role. You will be required to work a 37-hour working week however, my client does offer flexible working.The role will be home-based and all equipment will be provided, but occasionally you may be required to attend face to face meetings.An immediate starter is required, therefore if you are free for work, please contact the office NOW for further information
