Heritage & Conservation OfficerHelmsley, YorkWe are now looking for a Heritage & Conservation Officer to join us on a permanent, full-time basis.The Benefits- Salary of £32,020 - £35,411 per annum- 24 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays- Annual leave increases by one day per year to 29 days leave after five years service- Local Government Pension Scheme- Pool car schemeThis is a rare opportunity for a building conservation expert with experience of delivering built heritage conservation work programmes to step into an engaging and rewarding role with our excellent organisation.Working in the Parks stunning natural landscape, rich in heritage and wildlife, you will have the chance to help us conserve and enhance culturally and historically significant buildings for generations to come. From the picturesque 18th century stately homesto kilns dating back to as early as the 14th century, you will be surrounded by over 3,000 listed structures that have come to define the unique character of the North York Moors.So, if you want to help us to conserve some of the countrys most valuable historical heritage sites while making a positive environmental impact, we want to hear from you.The RoleAs a Heritage & Conservation Officer, you will provide expert advice in relation to the National Parks historic built environment. You will focus on enabling us to conserve the cultural heritage of the Park and advise how to reduce carbon emissions from heritagebuildings to help meet our local and regional carbon reduction targets.Specifically, you will provide guidance relating to applications for planning permission in conservation areas and listed building consent as well as advising on planning policy and design guidance in relation to the historic built environment. You will alsohelp develop external partnerships with heritage organisations as part of delivering our Management Plan Objectives relating to cultural heritage. The role also involves positive grant aid delivery to encourage the maintenance and repairs of listed buildings,conservation areas, and character assessments and appraisals.Supporting the delivery of our business plan objectives, you will promote the use of sustainable materials and improve the longevity of historic buildings by advising on the implementation of retrofitting measures.Additionally, you will:- Manage the building conservation budget- Prepare reports and appeal statements for planning hearings relating to heritage proposals- Identify and prepare plans for at risk structures- Promote public awareness of all aspects of the historic environment- Ensure that all work complies with the Authoritys Values, Health and Safety and Equalities policiesAbout YouTo be considered as a Heritage & Conservation Officer, you will need:- Experience of work relating to the conservation of the built environment- Experience of devising, managing, and ensuring the delivery of built heritage conservation work programmes- Experience of budget management and financial control- Knowledge of the planning system and other relevant legislative frameworks with respect to the historic built environment- IT proficiency- A full, valid driving licenceA degree level qualification (or equivalent) in building conservation or an associated discipline would be beneficial to your application.The closing date for this role is midnight on 11 November 2022.Other organisation may call this role, Conservation Officer, Planning Officer, Sustainable Development Officer, Design and Heritage Officer, Historic Building Conservation Officer, Historic Buildings Officer, or Heritage Officer.Webrecruit and North York Moors National Park Authority are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
