The role is within the Permanent Joint Operating Bases (PJOBs) and Far East HQ, part of the DIO Regional Delivery Overseas team based at RAF Wyton. This is a unique opportunity to work in high tempo environments, delivering professional and effective contract services and support to our diverse customer teams across overseas locations. The DIO has the responsibility for the management of property, infrastructure and related services to ensure strategic management of the Defence Estate as a whole, optimising investment and, critically supporting military capability to the best effect. The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working will be considered.Job descriptionWorking to DH PJOBs and Far East, the Operational Support Manager is key to the efficient running of the DIO Regional Delivery Overseas Headquarters. The Operational Support Manager is the driving force behind the running of the Headquarters; they will be responsible for coordinating activity within the Headquarters adding energy and momentum to the business. The role requires someone who is extremely organised, efficient and dynamic; someone who is unafraid to hold senior management to account on deadlines; someone who writes and briefs very effectively and can work under pressure. This is a wide ranging and challenging role operating at a senior level with senior staff; it doesn’t necessarily need someone from a strong infrastructure background – a good generalist will be effective in role. The post will provide an excellent grounding across many functional areas, and will suit an ambitious individual. Of note, there will be some occasional overseas travel. The role nests within a small HQ team. DIO Overseas and Training Region manages the delivery of the infrastructure services across the PJOB and Far East estate. This includes contract management and key relationship management with senior users, key suppliers and other elements of DIO, in particular Major Programmes and Projects (MPP). Post LocationsRAF Wyton Huntingdon Cambridgeshire.Responsibilities• Act as the gateway into and out of the Headquarters for major tasks/strands of work. Track progress on tasks and hold staff to account for their delivery. • Support to the Deputy Head and Assistant Head by progressing specific strands of work through to completion, preparing draft papers and presentations from first principles where appropriate • Provide line management function of, and support to, the business support staff. In doing so maintain oversight and management of all recruitment and broader HR activity • Provide the routine linkage with HQ DIO Regional Delivery Overseas & Training PMO staff • Act as secretariat to key formal contract meetings • Regular access and utilisation of Information Management Systems (IMS) and other MIS to enable Operational delivery and reporting Desirable experience and knowledge• Knowledge and experience of delivering Estates works and projects. • An understanding of project process, delivery and financial awareness. • Ideally should hold a full and valid driving licence. • Experience of working within a military environment. Travel RequirementsThe duties may require travel within the UK and to our overseas locations.
