Job Description

We are working with an early stage hi-tech business that is continuing to push the boundaries in green technologies. They are growing at an impressive rate and now have an opening for an additional team member to bolster the R&D team. As a key member ofthe R&D team, the Mechanical Technician will have a keen eye for detail and extensive experience of mechanical assembly of complex products. Working in a highly professional development team, you will be continually supported to broaden your skill set. Core duties include:

  • Building small batch prototype assemblies, fixtures and tooling
  • Fitting of mechanical elements within projects, mechanical machining, fabrication, and supporting the quality process
  • Perform mechanical tear down, route cause investigation and failure analysis
  • Supports design for assembly and design for manufacture activities
  • Planning in house machining by studying technical drawings, engineering plans, materials, and orthographic drawings
  • Review and technically advise engineers on design feasibility for in house machining and provide proposals for design changes where required
  • Using 3D printers to produce components.
  • Checking and completing first article inspections on internal and external designs, providing technical reports accordingly
  • Assembly of components whilst adhering to engineering drawings and relevant standards
Relevant experience:
  • Experience in a mechanical assembly environment
  • Excellent understanding of tooling and material properties within machining and assembly applications
  • Proven knowledge of manufacturing production and engineering processes such as value engineering
  • Technical drawing understanding and review
  • Strong mathematical background
  • Previous experience using CAD/CAM would be advantageous
