Job Description

Our work is cross-phase and involves a strong commitment to staff development and on-goingtraining for all staff in our schools.Wymondham College Prep School is a proud member of the Sapientia Education Trust (SET) and is the site you will be working at.Role ResponsibilitiesCaretaker:This exciting and varied role involves looking after Wymondham College Prep school and boarding facilities, as well as helping the Wymondham College Campus Services team as directed. Day to day duties include:

  • Carrying out building maintenance, repairs, refurbishments, project and new work
  • Replacing tap washers/ball valves, resetting taps, bleeding radiators, rectifying leaks, dealing with blockages and other minor plumbing matters
  • Repairing furniture/site facilities in need of carpentry/welding/general handyman skills
  • Facilitating arrangements for specialist contractors called to attend the School
  • Locking/unlocking of buildings and facilities
  • Setting/unsetting of anti-intruder alarms and barriers
  • Testing of Fire and Security alarms
  • Laying chairs etc for School events and preparing rooms/marquee
  • Ensuring ready provision of heating/hot water/cold water throughout the school and boarding house
  • Reporting any breaches of Health and Safety regulations to Headteacher or Estates Manager
  • PAT testing (training will be given)
  • Litter collection and disposal
Requirements for the Caretaker:
  • Experience of working as a Caretaker in a school environment
  • Experience in carrying out building maintenance, repairs, refurbishments
  • A handy, creative and resolution focussed individual
  • Flexible, empathetic, friendly and professional under pressure
  • A broad range of technical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with both colleagues and primary aged children
  • An understanding of Health & Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • A current, clean driving licence
Terms of role:
  • 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday
  • £18,812 - £19,188 per annum
