Job Description

Yard HandOur prestigious, manufacturing client within the Marine and Luxury Yacht industry, are currently seeking a Yard Hand, to join their highly reputable team.This is a full time, permanent position, based in Wroxham.As the Yard Hand, you will be responsible for helping to ensure that the Facility is maintained, and stock movements are done safely and in a timely fashion. The Yard hand will undertake general labouring and other duties (including general non-technicalmaintenance) to ensure that the site is kept clean, tidy, safe and free of debris and other hazards on a daily basis.Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading of goods.
  • Assist with and document routine inspections and maintenance activities of the site’s plant and fixed machinery.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety - ensuring best practice whilst carrying out activities
  • Notify management of any deficiencies that occur or highlight the need for repair.
  • General assistance around site as and when required by Production, Facilities and other departments.
  • Work with Team Leaders to organise parts being moved in and out of the factory.
  • Assist with boat movements, keel fitting, transportation of yachts in and out of the yard
  • Ensure that the yard is kept clean and tidy in accordance with the 6S principles.
Required Knowledge:
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Good working knowledge of Lifting Operations.
  • Working knowledge of building and construction
Required Skills:
  • Be able to use hand and power tools when needed for general maintenance and additions on site.
  • The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools.
Required Experience:
  • Experience of working safely in a busy production facility
  • Experience working in a manual environment which will involve lifting, carrying and other physical activity in relation to labouring, when required.
  • Experience of using a telehandler, forklift and other similar machinery for heavy loads
Required Qualifications:
  • Forklift license
  • Scissor lift license
  • Lifting operations license or similar (However on site training will be provided)
Personal Qualities:
  • Prepared to travel to other sites as required.
  • A full manual driving licence valid in the UK
  • Can do attitude and great approach to teamworking.
  • Detail conscious with a good personal approach to timekeeping and working in a safe, efficient and timely way.
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Keen to learn new competencies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with daily challenges.
