Job Description

We are delighted to be supporting a local charity in the appointment of an HR Advisor. This is a newly created role and will be a standalone reporting to the Head of Operations.The role is offered on a part time basis of 3 days a week.As the HR Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for all people related queries. You will ensure the smooth, efficient, and effective delivery of all aspects of people policies, processes and procedures including the HR and volunteer databases, aswell as supporting managers with employee relations, recruitment and selection, job design and pay, policy advice, employment law and workforce planning. The role will also include promoting health and well-being and the communication and engagement of employeesand volunteers.The role:

  • Lead the recruitment of operational staff and volunteers including advertisements, applicant screening, interviews, onboarding and right to work where appropriate.
  • Oversee the induction of employees and volunteers in line with managers requirements
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all appropriate checks are completed in a timely and efficient manner including Right to Work and DBS checks.
  • Provide support and prompts to supervisors and managers to ensure compliance with agreed practice, e.g probationary reviews, appraisals.
  • Support the resolution of employee relations issues, advising and guiding line managers on the appropriate actions.
  • Deliver training to line managers on people policies and procedures.
  • Regularly review and revise people policies and procedures and support with implementing new policies and procedures.
  • Manage the annual people survey and any other people feedback mechanisms highlighting areas for improvement to support recruitment, retention, engagement and the health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers.
  • Support the line managers to identify and deliver effective training and development for all paid staff and volunteers and ensure this is coordinated and carried out and records are complete.
  • Support the development and delivery of an overarching people strategy with theexternal HR partner.
  • Continually develop effective HR processes and improved ways of working.
  • Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.
You will have:
  • CIPD Level 5 Human Resources qualification.
  • 3 years experience in a similar HR role/s
  • Demonstrable experience of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrable experience of working within HR best practices and employment legislation
