Job Description

Reed Education are supporting a Woodford Green Secondary School with their recruitment for a Theology and Philosophy Teacher to deliver the curriculum for the 23-24 Academic Year.The post can be offered as a one year fixed term contract, a permanent post or a long term position.   • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Theology and Philosophy to students across different year groups.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages intellectual exploration, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue.
  • Facilitate thought-provoking discussions and debates on ethical, philosophical, and religious topics.
  • Develop and implement a well-structured curriculum that covers key concepts and encourages students analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and track student attainment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular links and promote a holistic approach to education.
  • Act as a pastoral tutor, providing guidance and support to students.
About you
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Specialism in Theology, Philosophy, or Religious Studies (a degree or postgraduate qualification is desirable).
  • Proven experience teaching Theology and Philosophy at the secondary level.
  • A passion for your subject and a commitment to instilling a love of learning in students.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to deliver engaging and inspiring lessons.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant exam board specifications.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Dedication to students holistic development and fostering their moral and ethical understanding.
