Job Description

Senior Audio/Cockpit Electronics EngineerLocation: WokingShift: Days40 hours per week PermanentAs Senior Audio/Cockpit Electronics Engineer you will be responsible for development and delivery of state-of-the-art audio systems, wireless charger modules and USB hubs for current and future road cars.As part of the Cockpit Electronics team, you will be responsible for the specification, development, test, and delivery of all audio systems. They will also oversee the any future developments of wireless phone charging modules and USB hubs. This includesdeveloping system requirements, supplier management, test case and procedure creation, manual test execution, as well as supporting the Infotainment and Cockpit Electronics Manager in proof-of-concept development and business reviews.The Senior Audio/Cockpit Electronics Engineer role requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail, diligence, and a positive attitude. The fast-paced development and bespoke target platform provide a challengingenvironment suited to an engineer who can quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team.The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Audio/Cockpit Electronics Engineer:

  • Oversee the management of suppliers
  • Leading the development of the roadmap for the future audio systems in road cars
  • Write detailed system specifications for audio features
  • Lead integration of audio systems and features with the overall vehicle architecture
  • Manage the development of multiple hardware and software suppliers to deliver audio features on time, on cost, and within quality and functional specifications
  • Report on current activities, software status and issues at a business level
  • Develop and co-ordinate DVP plans for all areas associated with audio software and hardware.
  • Ensure and sign-off launch readiness of features for production
  • Test road cars with the latest features and content before release.
  • Assist with fault finding and root cause analysis of software and hardware failures.
  • Report bugs and create test reports
  • Drive issue resolution with hardware and software suppliers
  • Take responsibility for resolving audio issues on current production vehicles.
  • Leading the mechanical integration of their components within the vehicle interior
  • Be responsible for the attribute performance of the sound system
The ideal Senior Audio/Cockpit Electronics Engineer:
  • Several years of work experience in development and delivery of electrical and electronic systems for automotive or audio applications
  • Experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle (V Model); writing system requirements, defining test cases, and writing test procedures.
  • Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
  • Be well versed in the creation and maintenance of DFMEAs
  • Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding.
  • Knowledge of Audio Weaver or equivalent would be beneficial
  • Attention to detail and dedication to delivering best in class products
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours when required.
  • A clean driving record and full UK license
