Job Description

The starting salary for this role is £31,262 per annum, based on working 36-hours per week. About usAs part of the Quality and Performance Service, which provides a range of highly specialist services to children and young people, the Child Employment Team ensures the Local Authority meets its statutory responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfareof children and young people in employment and entertainment.The Child Employment Team provides a high quality and efficient service to a variety of service users including employers, production companies, modelling agencies, dance schools, theatre companies, parents and chaperones, which allows children within Surreyto fulfil many performance and employment opportunities.About the roleAs a key member of the team, the Child Employment Support Officer provides assistance to the Child Employment Team Manager to ensure that children that are employed or taking part in a variety of different types of performances, do so safelyand legally within the relevant legislation.The Support Officer is responsible for fulfilling the teams statutory responsibilities which involves the processing and approving of licences and work permits.This role involves some travelling within the county to carry out performance inspections at various types of venues, as well as site visits to employers to ensure that the appropriate regulations are being adhered to. The Support Officer is also responsiblefor providing guidance and support to our various service users.There is a requirement to work pre-arranged evenings for which time off in lieu will be granted. This role will involve both office and remote working. Although the team is mainly based in Woking, you will be required to travel throughout Surrey to carry out the operational functions.About youWe are looking for someone who is highly organised with excellent written and verbal communications skills who can work as part of a team.We require someone who is self-motivated and has the capability to work independently. The ability to prioritise your workload is essential. You will need to be flexible in your approach to be able to manage the changing demands of the role which can oftenbe within tight timescales.The successful applicant will need to have a good understanding of safeguarding children and experience of working with legislation and regulations.To be considered for interview, your application and covering letter will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of providing excellent customer service
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Your excellent IT skills (Excel, Microsoft office, etc.)
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent
