Job Description

Workshop / Garage ManagerWinsford£30,000 - £35,000+ (Depending on experience)MondayFriday, 08:00-17:30Im currently recruiting for an experienced Workshop Manager to join a specialist courier business who specialise within dangerous and sensitive goods.They are seeking a Workshop Manager to maintain and execute vehicle fleet maintenance in line with the schedule agreed with the operations team, including ad hoc breakdowns.The Candidate:

  • Proven track record of working in a comparable role
  • Mechanical experience working with vans or similar is essential
  • Experienced in LGV mechanics is highly desirable
  • A clean driving license is essential
  • The ability to strip down components and rebuild
  • Knowledge and experience of inspection methods/processors
  • Knowledge and experience of statutory vehicle inspection requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to utilise/understand diagnostic equipment
Duties and Responsibilities;
  • To oversee, maintain and execute vehicle fleet maintenance in line with the schedule agreed with the ops team, including ad hoc breakdowns
  • Provide daily planning advice/ updates on vehicle maintenance
  • Liaise and order parts and lubricants etc, from various suppliers
  • Ensure the workshop is kept clean and tidy to safeguard H&S
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure the fleet is serviced and Mots are maintained in line with due dates
  • To provide training for existing staff and new employees if/when required
  • Maintain and support good working relationships/communication with all shifts, departments and customers
  • Maintain reports appertaining to operations i.e. Job sheets if/when required
  • Fleet is maintained in accordance with DVSA, manufacturer & company requirements
  • Undertake a condition check of vans arriving at the Hub and record new and existing damage using the vehicle condition sheet form
  • Update van availability on the Van Status Notice Board in the Warehouse
