Job Description

European Cybersecurity AnalystFull time, PermanentSalary: up to £30,000 per annum + annual company bonus + pension scheme + onsite parkingWorking: 35 hours per week, Monday to FridayLocation: Winnersh Triangle, Berkshire (RG41)As an Advantage Smollan cybersecurity analyst, you will protect IT infrastructure (including networks, hardware and software) from a range of malicious activity. You will monitor networks and systems, detect security threats (events), analyse and assess alarms, and report on threats, intrusion attempts and false alarms, either resolving them or escalating them, depending on the severity.You will be responsible for:

  • Monitor and maintain the Network Security Infrastructure, monitoring for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
  • Provide European IT security support including technical incident response and security operations support
  • Make technical configuration changes on network devices
  • Make recommendations on/implement configuration improvements, and driving changes where applicable
  • Take ownership of any technical security issues and own them through to resolution, escalating where needed
  • Identify opportunities for driving automation and other process efficiencies with respect to Security Portfolio and Stakeholder engagements
  • Undertaking vulnerability scans and penetration testing, working through these reports with local teams. Liaising and helping local portfolio companies to resolve identified issues/risks
  • Understand current and emerging security threats
  • Communicate threats and help deliver training and awareness programmes to staff
  • Perform security policy updates, security process design (security-by-design and privacy-by-design in information systems) and periodically perform reviews of security controls
  • Liaise with Group IT Security teams to ensure Advantage Smollan is in line with Group standards and benefit from their capabilities
  • Ad-hoc out of hours response to security incidents
  • Generate and report management dashboards on the security risk posture
  • Support technical IT Security implementation initiatives and projects to meet the requirements of Advantage Smollan and/or regulations
  • Maintain an information security risk register, incident register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
  • Contribute to independent oversight of Advantage Smollan 3rd party security service providers
  • You will have:(Required)
  • May suit someone with an IT operations background looking to move into cybersecurity
  • Proven education in cybersecurity and/or IT (A-Level, HNC, or HND equivalent), with a focus on technical controls
  • Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders and handle/prioritise competing demands
  • A strong dedication to maintaining quality and time-sensitive customer service
  • A calm, positive and patient approach
  • A strong team player
  • Passion for IT Security and confidence in your ability
  • (Desired)
  • Possessing one of the following certifications will be an advantage: SANS GIAC, CISSP, CISM, CCSA, CCSE
  • Awareness of industry standards and frameworks - PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials, IASME
  • Awareness of common exploits and vulnerabilities
  • Solid network engineering and server architecture awareness
  • Knowledge of best practices in modern security architectures, including Cloud architecture
  • Strong knowledge of security management principles and practices, including vulnerability management, event management, incident response and application security
