Job Description

Job TitleManagement AccountantReports ToHead of FinanceMain Purpose of the RoleTo act as Management Accountant for the Company, ensuring accurate management accounts are prepared each month within agreed timescales. To support the Finance manager to produce the weekly management accounts and Senior Management Team board packs and to providesupport with the completion statutory accounts and tax returns for the Business. To support the business with financial based projects providing a support service by working with all departments and the Senior Management Team to help make financial decisions.Must HavesMinimum of 3 years experience of working within a accounts roleAAT qualified / Part qualified accountantCommitted / FlexibleProjects experience within finance at drawing up costings and supporting senior managers with presentations to potential or current customersAbility to multi-task and work in a fast paced environmentStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers at all levels of the businessProfessional in appearance and manner when dealing with internal and external customersAbility to interpret Business Plans and add value to the financial foresight and delivery to the planning stagesPC literate - Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Accounting systems or web based applicationsUp to date knowledge of legislation and the financial implications on the business of this legislationConfidence to present to an audience, including briefings to employees and customers and delivery of financial updates to the Board membersMust have own transport and full UK driving licence and own transportation to workDesirables5 years within accounts of £50m+ TO companyACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountantSAGE 200 knowledge would be an advantageIndustry knowledge would be an advantage but not essential to this roleProactive self-starterWork best under challenging circumstancesAccountable KPIsAdherence to business budgetary plan> 98%Implementation & Continuous Monitoring of the SMT incentive scheme100%Accuracy of Forecasting vs spend for all departments> 90%Key AccountabilitiesFinancial AccountabilitiesThis role has several activities which are carried out on a regular basis but to ensure a smooth running of the department the role holder will be required to cover the Head of Finance as circumstances required. The following support the Head of Finance andthe business: Provide support to Head of Finance with the production of weekly management accounts and Senior Management Team (SMT) packs in preparation for the monthly SMT meeting Cost analysis Support with procurement and asset management to aid business decisions Interpreting changes within legislation and calculating the impact of these changes on the business Interpretation of Payroll legislation changes and impacts upon the business Development of short and long term departmental budgets and forecasts to support the future growth of the business Reviewing of overheads with departmental budget holders Ownership of relevant monthly balance sheet reconciliations Ownership of relevant lead schedules for the annual audit process Provide support with the production and finalisation of statutory accounts and Tax returns Supporting with corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls Monitoring and evaluating financial information and systems and suggesting improvements where needed Preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments Daily Bank/cash book reconciliation Petty cash admin and reconciliation Cover for Daily/weekly Sales reporting to the SMT Government returns including P11d and PSA Exceptional cost schedules Offer professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance including financial risks and consequences of business decisionsContract Accounting Provide weekly schedules to ensure contract is charged on time. Create cost tracker to ensure all costs are incorporated into weekly charges Weekly review with customerManagement Accounts Preparation of monthly timetable The preparation of timely and accurate management accounts (including profit and loss, balance sheet and supporting schedules) Prepare KPI s for management accounts Prepare divisional profit loss accounts Provide supporting analysis for Managers as appropriate Highlight all key issues of operational performance as highlighted by the management accounts, to discuss improvements where necessary with the relevant department head Follow up all areas of overspending with managers Financial input in key company commercial discussions as and when requiredControl accounts Reconciliations To prepare (and document where necessary) each month all balance sheet control accounts reconciliations (using own staff where appropriate)Cash Forecasting Daily update (to reflect cash receipts, facility drawdowns and payments) of the cash forecast and to ensure that it is current for at least the current and next monthsOthers VAT Returns (including Sales Listings, and Import reverse charges) Government Statistical returnsCommunicationContact internal customers to resolve any queries or problem that may arise. Responding to and dealing with both internal and external customer communication by email and telephone and in person in a professional manner at all timesTeamworkEncouraging teamwork within the workplace by displaying the correct behaviours towards all members of the Knowles Transport Ltd teams.Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment and reporting of any concerns to the Safety Manager.Being an ambassador for change and supporting the management team with its decisions on change management initiatives within the workplace
