Job Description

High-Cost Drug Clinical Administrator Location: WimbledonParking: Not SpecifiedJob Type: TemporaryDuration of booking: Expected to last up to 3 months with possible extensionProposed start date: ASAPSector: HealthcareBase: Home careBand: 4Pay Rates: £11.20 - £12.35 paye per hour£12.55 - £13.80 paye inclusive of holiday pay per hour£14.25 - £15.75 umbrella per hourAll of the rates are depending on skill and experienceWorking Days and Hours: 37.5 hours a weekJob Purpose The post holder will be part of the Interface and Prescribing Support (ISPS) service and help ensure that their work stream of programmes is planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful implementation. The postholderwill:

  • Provide and coordinate clinical and financial administrative services; including scrutinising and approving funding requests for high-cost drugs and relevant devices received through the secure high-cost drugs data platform (Blueteq) or manually.
  • Support the team with the management of projects, gathering information and dealing with enquiries as appropriate.
  • To deputise, where appropriate, for the Senior Pharmacy Technician.
Duties
  • Manage, process and check initial and continuation requests for high-cost drugs and relevant devices for patients using the secure high-cost drug data platform
  • Manage relevant communication with clinicians / hospital pharmacy teams and others as appropriate on issues arising as a result of drug pathways and Blueteq applications and seek support from team where required.
  • Identify and highlight trends of non-compliance with national criteria or local pathways to inform further local high-cost drug pathway developments
  • Receive and process high-cost drug and relevant devices usage data (SLAM-PLD) data. This includes scrutinising data to ensure use is appropriate and in line with clinical Blueteq approvals and highlighting any inappropriate use.
  • Ensure clinical patient data and financial information is recorded on the secure High-Cost Drugs database.
  • Scrutinise clinical and financial data as a proxy measure for clinical appropriateness highlighting, investigating and challenging prescribing where necessary.
  • Manage the administrative functions of the ISPS team sorting and prioritising all incoming Blueteq related mail and e-mail, distributing as appropriate.
  • Undertake administrative duties such as file management, mail outs.
  • Act as a point of contact for the team, and deal with/ respond effectively to complex queries from stakeholders and pass on relevant information to appropriate team members sensitively and autonomously.
  • Develop and maintain effective electronic filing systems, to ensure that information is kept securely and is accessible to other members of the team.
  • Prepare agendas, take minutes and distribute notes of meetings including typing up of group discussions and interviews as necessary.
