Job Description

Paying between £25k and £28k, a leading services business in Wigan is recruiting for a Senior Payroll Assistant (with guaranteed progression) to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be hybrid working with 3 days WFH and 2 days office-basedand offers 22 days holiday per year plus a flexible working pattern. This role is specifically geared to someone that has Payroll experience but is looking for their next step up and a career move. Until January the role will be a generic payroll position,processing weekly payroll. From 2023 the position will slowly start to become more varied and eventually result in taking on more responsibility and getting involved in more challenging payroll.The RoleYour main responsibility centres around the administration and preparation of the monthly payroll, dealing with payroll queries, and supporting the Management Accountant in the production of monthly Management Information and other finance-related tasks.Key accountabilities:

  • Collating payroll information
  • Inputting payroll data onto company systems
  • Data entry onto excel spreadsheets
  • Running payroll reports and verifying data integrity
  • Dealing with employees on pay-related queries
  • Communicating with other departments in relation to finance matters
  • Preparing and reconciling cashbooks and bank reconciliations
  • Reviewing expense claims and administering the expenses system
  • Administering the weekly payment run process
  • Training and learning from the existing Team Leader and slowly taking more responsibility over the more complex payroll issues
The PersonThis will suit someone who is highly numerate and has good attention to detail. Previous experience of working within payroll is essential. Strong administrative skills are key and you will have good Microsoft office skills, especially Excel, and strongcommunication skills. This would really suit someone who has payroll experience but is looking for their next step up and a chance to progress and learn a lot more and gain a lot more experience. This role will suit someone dynamic who will be open to lookingat new processes and systems going forward.
