Job Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in an alternative provision school that caters to the specificneeds of students aged 11-16 If so, Tradewind, a leading teaching agency, has the perfect position for you!We are currently seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join an OFSTED rated good alternative provision school located in Wigan. This school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for young people who require additional assistance due totheir SEND, Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) issues, and those who have found a mainstream school environment overwhelming.The successful candidate will be offered a competitive rate of pay ranging from £76.89 - £86.89 per day, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is a long-term opportunity starting in September 2023, with potential for continued employmentbased on performance and school requirements.The role primarily involves working with pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, and individuals who face challenges associated with Social, Emotional Mental Health needs. You will play a vital role in supporting thesestudents, helping them overcome barriers to learning, and fostering their personal and academic development.Key responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND, SEMH issues, and related challenges.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the social and emotional well-being of students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised interventions and support programs.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback and reporting on their development.
  • Encourage independent learning and the acquisition of essential life skills.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH issues, or related backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, and an understanding of associated needs.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • The capacity to adapt to different learning styles and tailor support accordingly.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within an educational setting.
