Job Description

Job Title: ChemistLocation: WiganHours: 8:30am - 5:00pmSalary: A competitive salary of £30k - £50k will be offered based upon experience.Benefits: Contributory Pension and Health Scheme (subject to qualifying period), Profit Related Bonus Scheme, Holiday entitlement is 25 days, plus statutory bank holidays.Thermoseal is a leading distributor and manufacturer of components for the insulated glass industry.Due to our continued expansion, we are currently seeking a degree level Chemist preferably with laboratory experience of formulation and product development, to join our Technical team in a development role.Dedicated to improving the organisations performance through its people, Thermoseal Group has achieved Investors in People standards for over 20 years.Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Development of new and existing formulations, and products
  • Testing of new and innovative raw materials and products, in conjunction with our key suppliers
  • Compound Analysis; via; GCMS TGA, FTIR.
  • Generating, analysing and interpreting thermal and mechanical data that supports the value proposition for speciality polymer materials and providing reports to the TM
  • Using data and knowledge generated to contribute toward the development of new, products
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for a clean and safe workplace
    • Desirable skills / experience:
  • Minimum BSc Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or similar discipline
  • Hands-on experience of thermal or mechanical testing techniques gained in a university or industrial laboratory setting
  • Strong data interpretation and report writing skills
  • Inquisitive mind set, with a passion for laboratory-based work
  • Pro-active and unafraid to take the initiative
  • Computer literacy and ability to work on Windows based IT packages including Word and Excel.
