Job Description

Manufacturing Technician / Engineer; Excellent salary, company benefits package and career opportunities; Based in Whittlesey, PeterboroughMcCain Foods are looking for a number of Manufacturing Technicians / Engineers for our food production facility in Whittlesey, Peterborough. This role would suit a time served, qualified Engineer with experience from within production / manufacturing as a Multi skilled Maintenance Engineer Mechanical bias or Electrical bias), Manufacturing Technician, Reliability Engineer or similar - qualified engineers from other backgrounds will be considered.Overview of the role:Working as part of the Shift Manufacturing team, the Manufacturing Technician is instrumental in the day-to-day efficient operation of machinery and equipment in their area of responsibility.Being assigned to specific plant equipment, the Manufacturing Technician will analyse performance trends and lead Continuous Improvement activity to ensure optimum plant efficiency whether it be mechanical, electrical, or programming the root cause of the issue. Their strong relationships with their Manufacturing colleagues in the area will ensure that operator equipment concerns are readily addressed and resolved ‘at the point of occurrence’.Key duties:

  • Lead and participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis activities to identify and act on corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks and improvement work with designated area.
  • Have advanced knowledge of equipment for the area and how to operate these as per Standard Work Methods and Best Operating Practice.
  • To record and interpret machinery efficiencies relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, and provide immediate corrective actions for both the short term and longer term preventative measures
  • To liaise with area Planner to ensure that planned maintenance activity is planned accordingly and with mind for bettering area performance (for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost), and assist in the delivery of this as required.
  • Enter accurate, detailed feedback on all completed tasks into SAP on a daily basis.
  • Ensure effective, timely and accurate Management Information is provided as required.
  • Ensure the upkeep and reliability of all plant and equipment in your designated area by feeding back requirements to the Area Engineer
  • Ensure that the area is maintained to 5s, Health & Safety and Hygiene standards at all times.
  • Manufacturing Technician / Engineer Candidate requirements:
  • Time Served qualified engineer, preferably multi skilled (mechanical bias engineer or electrical bias engineer) with experience of managing and maintaining industrial plant and machinery.
  • Experience within a production / manufacturing environment in a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Manufacturing Technician, Reliability Engineer or similar capacity.
  • Experience of SCADA and PLC’s for fault find / diagnostics
  • Good skills with Microsoft Office and ERP system such as SAP
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques, continuous improvement, failure analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Forward thinking, progressive and continuous improvement focussed.
