Job Description

SEND Teaching AssistantEngage Education are looking for a caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant in Wetherby.This position is at a specialist school providing excellent teaching for young people aged 3 to 19, who have a wide range of complex needs such as visual and hearing impairments, ASD, Dysprexia and ADHD.The school offers a variety of enriching educational opportunities for pupils including academic, functional and vocational skills. As a Teaching Assistant, you will connect directly with young people, guiding them to get the very best from their education.This role is a full-time position (Monday to Friday). Whilst it is initially a temporary role, there is potential for the role to become permanent in due course.Roles and responsibilities:

  • Working 1:1 or with a small group of children to support their teaching and learning.
  • Be able to adapt to the needs of the child in lessons and assist them in their school day
  • Promote positive behaviour.
  • A dedication to the safeguarding of young people.
Requirements:
  • A resilient attitude and range of behaviour management techniques.
  • To have worked with people with a range of needs (experience with young people with SEND desirable).
  • A positive and caring nature.
  • A dedication to enhancing young peoples learning.
  • A commitment to working at the school for a consistent period of time
