Job Description

Job Purpose -The role holder, reporting directly to the Senior Business Manager (SBM), will be responsible for managing supervisors and their teams and overseeing the overall efficient and effective delivery of the Depots Transfer Station, Baling Operation and 3 x HWRC (Household Waste Recycling Centre) sites and associated internal and external haulage, including health & safety and compliance, environmental compliance, and supporting the achievement of the Companys balanced business plans.Principal Accountabilities -

  • Ensure that the Supervisors deliver on all the service requirements of the Contract.
  • Constantly review the operation and services to ensure that efficiency levels are continuously improved upon, bringing value-added financial performance to the overall Contract.
  • Work with management to develop and implement innovative or additional services for the Client which continuously improve on the financial performance of the contract.
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures and legal obligations are understood and adhered to by all members of staff. Periodically review and amend safety procedures as demands require or in the event of a changed or new activity. Also, then ensure these are communicated in an effective manner to staff.
  • Work with suppliers to maximise the benefit of service delivery and commodity values versus cost.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Client and internal/external customers. Attendance Client/customer meetings as required. Ensure that all reports required as part of the Contract are delivered in time for meetings and any follow up actions are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Work with the business manager to ensure that all financial/ budgeted targets are achieved for the contract including but not limited to overtime, staff numbers and revenue.
  • To maximise recycling from the waste stream and diversion from landfill across all activity within remit. Support and provide guidance to Supervisors, Team Leaders to ensure understanding of this requirement is maintained.
  • To deal with site complaints within appropriate timescales and in line Company and Client protocols.
  • To provide COTC cover to sites as required.
  • To supervise performance of the site in relation to contract standards.
  • To maintain Compliance with the Environmental Permits at all times. This includes the timely collation of tonnage data to fulfil the required quarterly returns within the specified dates.
  • Person Specification -
  • CPC Manager Qualification.
  • WAMITAB COTC Level 4 Qualified.
  • Waste Management background.
  • People and health & safety management in a unionised environment is preferred.
  • Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs.
  • Experience of vehicle management - CPC, tachos, Road Transport Directive.
  • General knowledge of environmental responsibilities and existing health and safety legislation.
  • Working knowledge of CRM system.
  • Knowledge of internal IT systems.
