Axcis are looking to recruit teaching assistants to work in an alternative provision with multiple sights in Nailsea, Milton and Weston-Super-Mare. The school caters for pupils aged 5-16 who are studying the KS1-4 curriculum. The school use us for on the day cover and for long term roles. There is potential to be taken on permanently for the right candidates. The school day is 8:30-3:30pm with a half an hour lunch break. Some of the needs of the pupils include anxiety, depression, ADHD, challenging behaviours and health conditions. For various reasons the pupils arent suited to mainstream education from medical, health and behavioural issues. The school works in a more person centred way seeing each child as an individual with their own way of learning, skills and talents. The school aims to help build each pupils confidence, resilience and helps them to achieve their academic potential. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions and to achieve their full potential. Were looking for staff who are patient, kind, compassionate, empathetic, responsible and reliable. You will need to be able to quickly build trust and rapport with the children youre working with. You will remain calm and unfazed when presented with challenging behaviour seeing that the behaviour is a result of something else. Some of the students have been let down by other schools and this is their last chance to receive an education. You will need to be the kind of person who never believes its too late for anyone. Ideally you will be an experienced teaching assistant who has worked with pupils with challenging behaviours, SEMH or health conditions. You could be experienced working with children or adults with mental health issues or learning disabilities if youve never been a teaching assistant before. We can help you transition into the education sector if you have transferable skills. You may have a brother or sister with autism or be a carer for a relative with mental health issues. Please just give us a call if you think you may have what it takes. To work for us you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting and you will need a valid DBS and be able to provide a minimum of two references. Call today if you would like to book in a registration meeting. We pay every week, a week in arrears.
