Job Description

Operations Associate Director / DirectorThis is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a highly reputable practice, who are part of a wider global interdisciplinary network of professionals, sharing knowledge, skills and expertise and supporting each other in close collaboration.This role will play a pivotal part and be a key figure in the Practice, acting as a right hand person to the 2 highly progressive partners.OverviewWorking alongside the directors assisting them directly in a dual role.Working in a busy practice with currently 40 employees and looking to expand. The portfolio includes oversight and reviews of audits, accounts preparations, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT returns and management accounts, as well as any other work fromtime to time which may reasonably be considered part of the role.Key responsibilities and duties:Working towards or having RI status is an advantage.

  • Manage a team servicing a mixed portfolio of circa 400 clients (including audits, accounts preparation, corporation tax, personal tax etc)
  • Support Manager to Plan, manage and drive the success of multiple engagements
  • Keeping lines of communication open with staff and clients
  • Ability to manage within budgets and time constraints while providing a high level of client satisfaction
  • Work to expand client base and support business development activities, aiming to increase client portfolio year upon year.
  • Address client concerns and queries
  • Maintain positive and long term relationships with clients
  • Provide support to staff to ensure timely completion of engagements
  • Ability to identify services that will add value to portfolio of clients
  • Set an example for the team as a natural leader
  • Confident in reviewing processes and improving systems
  • Regularly assisting colleagues within the wider firm with technical accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Reviewing audits and some accounts giving feedback to staff
  • Ensuring that the managers/supervisors are training staff appropriately
Employees/Ad hoc
  • Participates in promotions and salary reviews.
  • Strategic decisions on developing the firm, and individuals.
  • Attend disciplinaries with HR when necessary.
  • Recruitment.
Systems
  • You will be required to become familiar with the following during the course of your work: Digita, Xero, Virtual Cabinet including Accounts Production and Audit Automation, and any similar software a client may use to maintain their accounting records.
Compliance
  • Review the compliance of the business with all relevant internal requirements, industry regulations and government legislation.
  • Ensure forms like AH KYC, ID and Risk assessment are filled in periodically.
Fraud
  • Although not engaged to identify potential instances of fraud, if you come across any information which appears to be an indication of fraudulent activity, to notify the firms MLRO.
The Global Network
  • Liaising with the directors directly
  • Ensuring that the project work ongoing has momentum
  • Liaising with the group and ensuring that there is a knowledge of it
  • Be prepared to travel in the UK or abroad, this isnt often but might be needed to attend conferences or reviewing procedures and visiting other members.
  • Reviewing the monthly management accounts and commenting
  • Preparation of monthly accounts to budgeted and KPIs
  • Business Development relating to helping in the development and growth of the UK network in conjunction with the Directors
  • Management consultancy support and succession support within the firms
  • Financial Due Diligence on acquisitions, supported by the current management team
  • Supporting and helping in strategic growth of the network
