Job Description

Reed Business Support are working with a local client based in Westhoughton to recruit for a full time, permanent role. We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join the team as soon as possible.The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the purchasing function, from building key relationships with a diverse supplier base, to order administration, Material Requirement Planning and price negotiation.The salary for this role will be between £20-25k depending on experience.The working hours are Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 17:30 with a THREE-DAY WEEKEND!Duties:

  • Raise and amend purchase orders
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms and shipping requirements
  • Ensuring all deliveries are received on time and in full, with all necessary paperwork
  • Formal tender preparation via RFQ and NPD process
  • Initiate savings initiatives and work towards a set annual target
  • Champion process improvements
  • Managing specific suppliers, placing, progressing, and maintaining orders with documented evidence
  • Update and maintain material pricing on BIS System (SYSPRO)
  • MRO (maintenance, repairs, operations) buying
  • Compile monthly Vendor reports
  • Monitor and manage OTIF expectations of supply base
  • Liaise and develop good communications with supply partners
  • Deal with invoice queries and other queries (internal and external) as required, ensuring a timely response
  • Provide detailed and timely report to the Group Supply Chain Manager
  • Provide additional cover within other areas of the department during holiday/busy periods.
  • Personal Specification:
  • Purchasing experience and proven implementation in cost strategies
  • Track record of working strategically with suppliers to deliver cost saving added value or supply chain efficiencies
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and MRP system
